We're also running many 7.5 desktop clients against this server. Like you this was done to prep for our upcoming server upgrade (run into an issue which has delayed it). We also upgrade the MidTier to benefit from the performance gains that are in 7.5 Patch 004. He kept interrupting me, tell me I was wrong and I should never upgrade the client first. I really didn't have a lot of confidence in any answer from him about why this version was that different. I double checked the Technical Bulletin from the 7.5 p 5 and it doesn't say anything about not working with ARS 7.1. The reason being that if the server offers a new piece of functionality on the client, the client will not be able to take advantage of that functionality until its upgraded.. Upgrading the client before the server, will mean that the client can access every functionality of the server application of the previous version.. I wouldn't keep a gap of more than a version though. Backward compatibility is perhaps better tested on one version by software manufacturers.. Perhaps IE 7 has an issue with the latest and the greatest MT version, which is why BMC told you what they did,. Did you ask them the reason why they recommended something like that which I agree is generally in direct contradiction to what they generally recommend.. The reason I am asking is that I upgraded my dev server to MidTier 7.5 p 5 and I am having an IE 7 issue so I was told by BMC not to install the latest patch of the MidTier client. This is very counterintuitive of everything I have ever been told by BMC. They seem to usually want me to install the latest patch before they try anything else.
