Unless you are on 7.5 where you can disable the Status History on a form property.
In version 7.5, the AR System doesn't care if the status history table is not populated. BMC is probably working in the direction to depricate that option which frankly in my opinion does not serve much value.. It doesn't really offer a true audit of the status history. It is just a overhead on the AR System database.
