I checked on the possibility of using init-form in the ar.cfg file.
This is not supported by Mid Tier.
On to checking the SERVCIE action.

Yes foobar can log into both servers.

I'll have to take a look at the Service action.
Thanks,

Why not take advantage of the Service action. That would allow you to use a
filter to do the push and still be in-line for the Window Open

I'm checking both servers.
I made a test AL that checks for $USER$ = "foobar" and $VUI$ = "webSubmit" and
I can get it to fire and perform an Open Window action with the correct view.
I just can't get the update to the user Preference form to take.
I'll have to do it off-line as an admin task, maybe an escalation to run off
hours and re-align all of the active users with the correct Default Form View.

Thanks,

John,
Are you looking at the preference record on Dev or Prod...I don't honestly use
preference records all that much...but my understanding is that if you have a
preference server, and you change the preferences, it'll save on that
server...so if you're doing your work on Dev, but your pref server is Prod, I
would expect the value in prod to be updated.

LJ,
I thought I had it all configured correctly.
This is for infrequent users who do not have the WUT installed.
They will have Floating licenses and access to a robust view of the form.
Other users (customers) get a limited view for submit only of a helpdesk
request.
I have two arservers running on one Mid Tier server. I've configured the Mid
Tier to use the production server as a preference server. Does that mean
workflow on the development server will not update the User Preference record?
Thanks,

John,
This process assumes that your user is utilizing the preference server. Are
they native or Web, do you have your server configured to require a preference
server and have that configured properly in your Mid Tier?

Subject: Run Process SET-Preference

**
Hello Listers,
ARS 7.1 Patch 004
MS SQL 2005
Midtier 7.1

I'm trying to control the VUI of a form using the User Preference form and
$GROUPS$ keyword.
I have two views (main and web) and a permissions group (HD Staff) that should
see the "main" view.
I have an Active Link that checks the $VUI$ = "web" and $GROUPS$ LIKE "%HD
Staff%" on window open.
The If action is a RUN PROCESS of PERFORM-ACTION-SET-PREFERENCE 20117 main.
According to the docs this should change the keyword $VUI$ to hold the value
"main" and push "main" to the AR System User Preference form for that $USER$.
The second If action is an Open Window action in search mode with the View
value set to Clear.
This works as expected for opening the form in the proper view (VUI) but does
not push the value "main" to the AR System User Preference form.

I found the post from Doug Mueller calling out this process and decided to try
it out. I was hoping this Run Process would be useful in updating User
Preferences for certain groups and for the control of views when dealing with
customers vs. staff entering requests.

Thanks,
