Maybe it's only an upgrade ;-)

I have upgraded three full 7.5 / 7.6 systems now to 7.6.03 across the board
(ARS, Atrium, ITSM, SRM, RKM, SLM) on Windows x64 (2008 R2 was more problematic
than 2003), in theory successfully (with plenty of warnings). The upgrades go
better if you manually disable the unnecessary processes for the upgrade
(arsnmpd, apsvcae, slmbrsvc, slmcollsvc, arcmdbd, arrecond - by remarking them
in the armonitor.cfg) once you have moved ARS and Atrium to 64-bit,
_especially_ for the ITSM upgrade (which throws a lot of warnings). I should
have tried that sooner.

I have installation of a complete, fresh 7.6.03 system on my list, but no
hardware free to do it on yet.

** I am seeing the same thing on a Windows/SQL 2008 box. Again, brand new
installation. Nothing in the Remedy KB system referencing the error.

How are we supposed to install this product?

Hi Folks,

I attempted to install 7.6.03 on my laptop in a new VM (64 bit, Windows 2008
Enterprise server running 8Gb, 2 dual core CPUs) in several ways:

1) The pre-packaged ITSM install (w/ MS SQL Server 2008 64bit installed)

2) The single AR install w/ MS SQL Server

3) The single AR install w/ Oracle 11g

In all cases the installer seems to think an upgrade is desired and picks up
the first byte of the v4 IP address as a server name "192" and reports
connectivity problems to that.

These are all new installs to a new machine with the OS and the DB installed.
I did not have the loop-back adapter but that only causes problems with the
Oracle management app. (I will reinstall that later). There are no
environment vars set that I would think would interfere w/ ARS.

If anyone has any clue what the problem and work-around may be, I would
certainly appreciate it.

Thanks
Ben Chernys
