You can have multiple company types selected, so for example "BMC Software" would be both a Manufacturer and a Vendor. The main thing that setting a company up as a Vendor is that they appear in the dropdowns on the Vendor tabs in the Service Desk applications. However, the way we use it is to track vendors that we communicate with rather than assigning them tickets. I know Vendor companies do show up in the dropdowns for assignment, but since I haven't worked with an outside vendor in the capacity that you are discussing, I'm not sure what limitations might be there.

The reason is that I would like to be able to distinguish between internal Remedy supporters and external Remedy supporters from our external vendors (who is member of a support group), so this would be done best if I could set the attribute called "Vendor" instead of "Operating Company". Thanks in advance!
