I've run the upgrade from ARS 7.5 p5, CMDB 7.6 p1, ITSM 7.6 p1 to all v7.6.3.
The OOB change and asset modules had a lot of bugs that were fixed in 7.6.3. It
made it worth the upgrade, but I had built the previous version and used strict
development rules and documentation that made the upgrade easy. Things to look
for...

Custom navigation fields and table columns. Be sure to document their database
ID's and attributes. After the upgrade, they will be removed, but maintain a
bad
reference on the form that prevents you from recreating them. To fix, just open
each form, make a minor change and save the form. That will remove the bad
references, then you can recreate them. Using the same database ID's with allow
any active links and filters to still work with them.

If you've modified any workflow or menu's, back them up. Anything that as
changed from an OOB perspective from 7.6 to 7.6x patchx will be overwritten.

Any data fields that have been added to forms that have been changed from an
OOB
perspective from 7.6 to 7.6x patchx will be removed from the view. They still
exist on the form and you won't lose data. Just re-add them to the views.

As far as the OOB perspective comments. If an out of the box form or active
link/filter doesn't change from 7.6 to whatever version or patch you're
upgrading to, the installer won't modify it. Even if you've made changes to it.

As far as user tool functionality... version 7.6.4 is not 7.6 patch 4. It is a
different version. If you upgrade to ITSM version 7.6.4, the user tool is not
compatible with ITSM 7.6.4. You and all of your users would have to use the
Mid-Tier. If you want to maintain use of the Remedy user tool, don't upgrade
past ITSM 7.6.3.

Good luck
Jason

Subject: ITSM 7.6 to 7.6 Patch 4 Upgrade

**
Hello fellow Listers,

We are running ARS 7.5 Patch 004 and ITSM 7.6 unpatched. We are looking to kick
off an AM project. One of the questions posed was upgrading to ARS 7.6 (a
patched version) and ITSM 7.6 patch 4. Anyone have any sage advice on whether
it
is worth the upgrade, or will what we have suffice. Has there been significant
changes to AM for us to see a benefit by doing it now, rather than later.

I also heard a rumor that some of the User Tool functionality is pulled from
patch 4. True?

Thanks,
Ben Trimmer

A conclusion is simply the place where you got tired of thinking.
