Eric, The attachment pool mechanism doesn’t have a built in file comparison mechanism to detect changes in a file.
Never tried this but maybe you could try using an external (third party) file comparison tool.. Store the DB version of the attachment in a temp attachment field on window open (if that is possible) and then use a file comparison tool to compare the two files.
