Eric,

The attachment pool mechanism doesn’t have a built in file comparison mechanism 
to detect changes in a file.

Never tried this but maybe you could try using an external (third party) file 
comparison tool.. Store the DB version of the attachment in a temp attachment 
field on window open (if that is possible) and then use a file comparison tool 
to compare the two files.

What if you disabled all but the Add button, and made the actual attachments 
read only except for Submits?  That would provide an audit trail of versions of 
the attachments.
