We just recently went live with 7.6.04... with about a gazillion issues. One of them was performance. After fixing the other issues, we came to the conclusion that some of our users were using machines that couldn't handle the WEB content of 7.6.04. What do I mean by that? 1. You can go to a completely hi-res, flash intensive website and you'll see your IE process in task manager is taking up about 65-80mb of memory. 2. You do the same with Remedy on 7.6.04, and you'll see that you pretty much start out at 100+ and as you go through to different consoles, your memory utilization goes up to almost 300k. 3. When this happens on sub-par machines (Pentium 4, 2gb ram) the browser comes to a screeching halt.
I mention all this because one of their main complaints is that IE crashed when they Shift + Clicked to open new windows of Remedy in 7.6.04. This essentially opens up additional browser sessions on your PC and can quickly overwhelm the OS. I haven't opened a ticket about this yet but will. I don't know if it's crappy code or crappy content on the page but be careful of this... Tauf Chowdhury | Forest Laboratories, Inc. Correct. You can easily open up multiple records at the same time. This has been true since the inception of the Mid-Tier, so it should be completely possible on AR System 7.1.00. In fact, it'd be interesting to hear how you're avoiding it, since the fact that multiple windows open when using the product was feedback we received that led to a change in AR System 7.6.04 that keeps multiple windows from opening (although it too allows multiple windows to be opened if you hold down the Shift Key when navigating). -David J. Chris, Are you saying that you are having trouble with your users having more than one window open?....shouldn't be an issue from the same source, if they have a button that opens the form in question in a new window, then open another.....I guess I'm not understanding where this is an issue even for 7.1.... -----Original Message----- From: Action Request System discussion list(ARSList) [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Pruitt, Christopher (Bank of America Account) Sent: Friday, May 13, 2011 8:33 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Mid-Tier and opening several windows for a single logon session. Hello fellow Listers, We have been trying to figure out a way, in the Mid-Tier to allow our users the ability to open several windows at the same time via a single login session. I heard there is now a way to do this with the latest version of the Mid-Tier. We are currently using version 7.1 and to date we have not been successful. Roughly 50 percent of our users opens two Windows clients at the same time and cut and paste from one a current inventory record on one window to a new record on another window, all day long, which represents about 75% of their daily workload. Before we can go totally all web-only we need to have this ability. Like I said we are currently using 7.1 but are holding off on upgrading to 7.6.4 until we can confirm that the latest version of the Mid-Tier has the ability to open several windows at the same time via a single login session. Can anyone here either confirm or dispute that?
