Turn on Active Link logging then open the AST form and do a search. Look for other search fields being populated automatically before the search is done such as the DatasetID. Maybe one of these is causing the search to return no records?
Try exporting a record that works and one that doesn't from the BMC:BMC_SystemSoftware form to csv. Load them into Excel and compare them to see if there are any major differences.
