Just to be clear, the good news is that Mid-Tier 7.6.4 provides 'Form Action Shortcut Keys' and they work with no coding at all! CTRL+ALT+ENTER provides the functionality I have long awaited. When in search mode, it performs a search. There are others as well, found in the Release Notes.
