I didn’t clearly translate my thoughts.. at one point in my email I said ‘push’ the value.. You cannot really push fields and expect the preference to be active.. You will need to use the active link process command ‘perform-action-set-preference’ with the field ID of the preference form that these values need to be changed..
So like I claimed in my previous email, I haven’t tried it myself yet as I have never had the need to, but it should work as this function has been around for a while now.. Since a user can modify his own preferences, you can allow the user to push the value of his/her selection to turn on/off logging into his/her user preferences form, so they can turn it on only when needed. Copy this selection field into all the user interface form and share the workflow attached to it across the form.. If this selection field is selected from the Global Field range, you could carry the value of its selection across various operations, even if focus to the original form where a selection was made changes.. I haven’t attempted the exact same thing before, but I don’t see why it should fail.. We have had to cut and paste a lot in to notepad or some type of editor. Client side logging will pop up another browser window and start generating the logs from login. At least with the user tool you can turn it on and off at certain points and save to a file. You can still use the client tool to generate logs. You will just have to go to the specific form you are looking for. The consoles will not work in the client tool. We still use the client tool for a lot of logging. As recomended by BMC, users are using web to work on incident management system. The question is, how do we get client logging for active links and filters as we got from user tool. I enabled the loggong from AR user preference form but it genrates lot of logs and does not get saved in some file.
