My personal favorite is leveraging the Application-Query-Delete-Entry in customizations that involve deleting a set of records that could be picked up easily by a form level query... You can use a combination of Status field to make sure you do not delete open incidents, the timestamps to delete between a specific period, and other fields on the form to include exceptions and inclusions in your query..
