‘In an ideal world’ no more than 2 SP’s would be a great standard to live by...
I think I can see why BMC probably prefers early releases – lower ‘manufacturing’ costs by conducting only brief periods of testing in-house.. They probably rather let the user community do the major part of the testing to reduce the whole costs. This means they have to release the products before they had enough time to test internally and let the users participate in the remainder of the ‘testing’ even upto the first couple of patches after which the more stable patches are released. In most of the recent versions I have noticed that the most stable version is often Patch 3 onwards with the exception of ARS 7.1 (was it?) where patch 5 was a disaster and was eventually pulled out.. If that’s what's being done, there is a good and bad to that. We have a product that could pretty much agitate most of its loyal user base... And that’s probably the good part.. The bad obviously being BMC runs the risk that they no longer have a loyal user base given some time.. IMHO, the Remedy user base being such a small niche community, with a fair number of of more than willing participants on beta programs, these programs should be prolonged a little longer than they are. There is almost no other better way you can think of to get ‘testers’ for free – belonging to various market demographics.. This would greatly improve the quality of the release versions. It may be even worth it for BMC to consider hosting a limited number of free cloud based test environments for eligible individuals or customers willing to participate in tests, but unable to host a test environment on premise due to the rising cost of minimum requirements for these products.. Yes this would cost a little, but if they do get able individuals or customers to enroll, it would be worth it. Here are some facts about the sizes of these stars.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VY_Canis_Majoris This is the list of largest known stars.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_largest_known_stars And some comparisons with some of our planets including the earth with the size of the sun and the size of the 15th largest star. http://www.co-intelligence.org/newsletter/comparisons.html Can you imagine if we lived on a planet as big as the VY Canis Majoris? Technically it would have not been possible even if it did have an atmosphere and water and everything else conducive to existence of life..
