All, Looking for some opinions,suggestions, gotchas, all of the above. I want to buy a laptop and also use it to host an ITSM platform for sandbox or testing or demos. Here are some questions: 1. Mac or PC? 2. Solid state hd or standard? 3. If Mac, how good is parallels to host the environment? What about VMWARE? 4. If PC,is VMware the preferred platform to host the env on? 5. I'm assuming I have to pay for licenses of SQL server and Win Server. Is this correct? 6. Is it just cheaper to build a server at home to host this and just VPN in using any laptop?
If I'm missing something, let me know. I just want to make an educated decision before plopping down a bunch of cash. Also, maybe this thread can be used as a good reference for someone looking to do this in the future.
