Both VMWare Fusion and Parallels on the MAC are excellent and easy to
use - both run Win7 without any issues. The biggest gotcha is RAM you
need a MAC with at least 4GB and preferable 8GB

** Rod,
I like that idea. I guess if needed, I can then use the VM Workstation
to run Analytics or another instance of mid-tier which is less resource
intensive than AR.

** Hi Tauf,

I have found that running Remedy without a virtual machine is actually a
lot lighter resource wise and more flexible. You don't need the overhead
of running 2 operating systems at once. I use the free SQL Server 2008
personal edition. On top of that I install the 7.6.4 Suite stack
install. That install only takes around 40 minutes or so. I'm running
Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium with 8 Gig on an i5-2450M.

You will be surprised how easy this setup is to get going and how well
it performs.

I want to buy a laptop and also use it to host an ITSM platform
for
sandbox or testing or demos. Here are some questions:
        1. Mac or PC?
        2. Solid state hd or standard?
        3. If Mac, how good is parallels to host the environment? What
about VMWARE?
        4. If PC,is VMware the preferred platform to host the env on?
        5. I'm assuming I have to pay for licenses of SQL server and Win
        Server. Is this correct?
        6. Is it just cheaper to build a server at home to host this and
just
        VPN in using any laptop?

If I'm missing something, let me know. I just want to make an
educated
decision before plopping down a bunch of cash. Also, maybe this
thread
can be used as a good reference for someone looking to do this
in the
        future.
