This is a ‘me too’ kind of a response.. I have observed the same too..

I have also ‘heard’ some talk that the Id that it automatically assigns, is
used internally by the AR Server to know that it’s the Default Admin View. But
I never believed that, because you can change the default admin view to
something else and the view ID doesn’t’ change..

So given that, I would love to know if there was intent behind not allowing a
user to fix the view ID while form creation, and if so what that intent was.
Because it would have been nice to be able to fix it before creating the form
rather than using the archgid to achieve that..

Subject: Re: Customizing view ID

** What I have noticed in DS 7.6.04 is the View ID cannot be changed for the
initial view of a new form. When adding additional views to a form you can
change the View ID before saving the new view.

I have used archgid.exe to update View IDs without any issue. Looks like
Victor will need to use archgid.exe to change the initial View ID for a new
form and then from there on out you can change it in Dev Studio.

  Hi,

If it can be changed in DevStudio, do so.

If not, it might be necessary to export to DEF, change the id in an
  editor, and reimport the DEF.

There is also the archgid which I have not heard anything about in a long
  time...
