I spent about a week tearing this issue apart. We were using Tomcat 7.x though. I think there are compatibility issues with the ISAP redirector for Tomcat and IIS 7.5. I saw a bunch of threads that recommended going the ASP route, but I haven't tested it out yet. Apache is much easier to integrate with Tomcat if you need something in front of Tomcat. Windows 2003 there were no issues. I would definitely be interested if you find a solution. The integration is straight forward, so you would think it shouldn't be too hard to setup.

Your deployment would be far less complex without it, using Tomcat directly, which is all IIS Is doing. The mod_jk connector is now a decade old and has been (sort of) deprecated by other modules (mod_proxy_ajp) for the Apache web server.
