I would be shocked if you could get that information from them. I don't believe that anything they do requires them to find out from you what DB you are using. Any shop I am familiar with has made the decision based on the people they have to support a specific DB type. If you have MSSQL DBAs then why would you bring in Oracle? And vice versa.
As for the size I would tell him that what is currently being used would be a good start. But also, how much has it grown over it's lifespan because it will keep growing unless you are one of the few shops that maintains good archival policies. Personally speaking I would go with Oracle, but that is only because I feel more comfortable in Oracle. And that is the only real justification I have for that decision.
