Hi,
the development version of ACT can now handle 3 or more sequences in
parallel. Here is a screenshot of the new version:
  http://www.sanger.ac.uk/Software/ACT/Examples/gfx/four_way.gif
It shows the complete genome of Yersinia pestis (top) versus
Esherichia coli versus Salmonella typhi versus Salmonella typhimurium
(bottom).

On UNIX and GNU/Linux the order of the command line arguments has
changed to cope with multiple sequences. Examples:

Loading two sequences and a comparison should now be done like this:
  act seq1 seq2_v_seq1_comparison seq2

Three sequences and two comparisons:
  act seq1 seq2_v_seq1_comparison seq2 seq3_v_seq2_comparison seq3

etc.

As usual the development version is available for UNIX and GNU/Linux:
  ftp://ftp.sanger.ac.uk/pub/pathogens/software/act/builds/act_compiled_latest.tar.gz
and for Windows:
  ftp://ftp.sanger.ac.uk/pub/pathogens/software/act/builds/act_compiled_latest.jar

The user manual hasn't been updated (yet), the Mac version isn't
available (yet) and although there is now a Run menu in the UNIX
version of ACT, it doesn't actually work (yet). These are in progress.

Kim.
