Hi, it looks like the ldap url is malformed somehow, what was the url you used? We had a bug related ti url validations in 2.1.2 ( http://issues.jfrog.org/jira/browse/RTFACT-2424) that was already fixed for the next release which probably prevent this error from re-occurring.
To fix your current problem with 2.1.2 take the latest working artifactory configuration file (look for a file named artifactory.config.startup.xml under artifactory home etc directory), make sure it doesn't contain the ldap settings (remove the settings if it does) and copy it to a new file named artifactory.config.import.xml. Artifactory will use this file to start. In any case once you send me the url, I'll try to reproduce it and if it still happens will open a bug.
