I watched this video, downloaded the examples, replaced the init.gradle with
the one Eli provided, and it worked for me the same as
http://forums.jfrog.org/file/n7032960/quickstart.zip my Gradle Java
quickstart . This is extremely gratifying to me because both the
https://github.com/JFrogDev/project-examples/tree/master/gradle-example
JFrog example and http://forums.jfrog.org/file/n7032960/quickstart.zip my
Gradle Java quickstart *FAIL* in the following ways:

If I use the
http://wiki.jfrog.org/confluence/display/RTF/Gradle+Artifactory+Plugin+using+the+snapshot+version
JFrog wiki's init.gradle for 2.0.x-SNAPSHOT versions , both fail the same
way as described above.
The UI seems to have changed between the video's Power Pro 2.3.4.1 and my
open source 2.4.1. Even so, the
http://forums.jfrog.org/file/n7032960/JFrog_Example.jpg Build tab and
http://forums.jfrog.org/file/n7032960/Gradle_Quickstart.jpg Published
Modules tab are both empty, even though modules were definitely published.

I don't recognize your errors and haven't encountered them myself. If I do,
I'll try to help.

P.S.
I started digging into JFrog's Wharf to see how it handles snapshots &
release builds. What do you know - I found the init.gradle Eli sent me! So
I beefed up my own stuff with it (which is where the -P comes from):

gradle -I init.gradle -Pquickstart-version=1.1-SNAPSHOT artifactoryPublish
