Eli, thanks for replying... "as expected" in the sense of configuring the first node and then bootstrapping more L-B nodes via shared database? Tried again here with 2.4.2 - but same result .
Another scary thing is that in my L-B setup changes on artifacts in various repositories are not propagated among the nodes Will send the config zips later on.
