You can achieve content-based active/active by using sync-replication. This
requires some setting up to do, but allows any artifact deployed to one
server to be resolvable from the other server. With a load balancer in the
front for reads, clients can read from any server.
Writes need to be made against a specific local repository in one of the
servers (which will be replicated to the other one). Typically you wouldn't
want to split writes from the same client between servers, since it is
common for a build process to resolve its own writes, and flipping between
servers will slow down the process.
