First of all, let me assure you, working offline is not as awful as one
might think on the first sight. Lots of finance, government and security
companies work that way. Yes, you need to upload the artifacts manually (or
by using REST API), but the majority is uploaded (or even better, imported)
only once from your current local m2 cache as an archive. After that it's
only maintenance.
We have number of ways to validate the files coming into Artifactory, the
main is the checksum, of course. All the downloaded artifacts are verified
according your policy, which may be very strict, e.g. not only disallow
artifacts with failed checksums, but also prevent jars without checksums.
Additionally, we can verify that the archives are extractable. You can also
implement your own checks (e.g. antivirus check) in user plugins.
