Ah, ok. Yes, that explains it. ~ is only meant for interactive use, everywhere
else $HOME is the way to go. Thanks again for your feedback to get to the
bottom of this issue. I'll remove the extra PATH assignment anyway in an
upcoming commit because as you pointed out, it's not needed there.
