Title: RE: [AsburyPark] Re: Ironically - it rains; who do you credit

Well excuse me for responding for Skip but you continually frame the question about the "better deal waiting in the wings."  That question is a "When did you stop beating your wife?" question.  It assumes a situation that may or may not have been the case.  The deal came out of bankruptcy court where it could have been mediated with the help of a bankruptcy judge but wasn't.  Indeed the City's attorney, Aaron has been quoted as saying that the City's side was never (meaning never ever) presented to the bankruptcy judge.  Yet he is still the City's attorney.  The original deal could have been adjusted in a thousand ways in favor of the City none of them taken.  All adjustments in favor of the Developer Gatekeeper were taken.  Some of them I believe to be illegal.  Particularly disturbing is that the original deal had the State putting in $27 million in improvements.  The State is subject to the slightest whim of a bankruptcy judge.  Bankruptcy Court by placing the agreement as protected property subjected all parties to the continuing agreement - including the state.  So explain to me why Asbury Partners agreed to pay for improvements the state was obligated to supply?  I can tell you why.  Because they knew by keeping the expertise of State development people out of the picture they stood to make more than $27 million.  And I think those numbers could be added fairly easily.  If you are rooting for the re-elect ticket you should drop the subject of the redevelopment agreement.  Because you are not going to find anything but disgusting failures there.

Skip,

Real estate values are up all over.   But not anywhere near to the extent they
are up in AP.  You could have bought a house for around $100K in 2001 that
now sells for over $500K.  Name another town that has appreciated like that.

As for the Weldon connection - raises eyebrows of course.  Big ones.  But the
FBI has said they have specifically reviewed the deal with Asbury Partners
and the relationship with Weldon and can find absolutely no evidence of
anything corrupt.  That doesn't mean there is nothing I grant you, but should
we believe your consipiracy theory over the FBI?  What evidence do you have
that the deal was dirty?  I'd like to see it.  I'm sure the FBI would too as they
have not turned up anything in the course of their investigation.

And please also share the details of the better deal that was waiting in the
wings ready to be signed.  You know, the one you are accusing the board of
not being smart enough (or honest enough) to take over the deal we have.  I'd
also be interested in that, and am curious how such a great offer remained so
secret.  You'd think the losing bidder would have made some noise about the
unfairness of it all.....
