I'm not commenting on another's salary. Get's you no where in life. Once I was
working on VP's computer in a co I worked at a few years ago - well in the
days of PII chip on a 386 pc....
I saw his resume and salary. He was only a couple years older then me.
Meanwhile, I did all his work and more or less had the same qualifications as
he did, yet he made 3 times the salary and had wood grain finish on his cube
that was also 3 times the size of mine.
So instead of protesting somewhere, I used it as my motivation to get that
Insurance Industry Designation he had. I hustled the classes - which meant
taking 3 at a time and within 2 years....I made 3 times my salary - leaving the
employee world to instant success as a consultant.
My whole point was not to talk about the engineer's salary or "bonus" for doing
extra work, but to talk about "shared resources" or utilizing an engineer from
the co installing the turf. MAYBE you'd be able to save a few bucks.
And if he succeeded as an engineer, good for him. good also for those that
don't have those extra skills yet make $60,000 per year.
there's plenty of schools around today and money for it. Never to late to
change careers and make yourself marketable in several fields.
