Please change the file path in main method before using.
I rushed the code out in 2 hours, so it's far from satisfying. But the main
idea is there, basically I'm using a expression tree the store the equation,
it works well for simple expressions but I didn't test for complex cases.

Sorry for the late response since it's the end of the term so it's really
busy these few days.
As requested, I have corrected the sample ASCEND model and uploaded the code
for exercise 1. I appended the link to the exercise code in my proposal,
please take a look, thanks.
Since my final exam is coming, I may not have the time to complete the rest
of the exercise. I can only do it after my exam, from 17 April onwards,
which is quite close to the deadline, is that all right?
