I have applied for Google Summer of Code for iincorporating ASCEND into a
real-time control and parameter estimate engine, using live data feeds for
its modelling calculations.
I have installed ascend and read the tutorial and I think that Ascend can be
made to take data at regular intervals of time from a given source.When the
number of data variables and equations is large, we can group the various
variables according to their number of usage in calculating the various
dependent variables. This will be advantageous if we have to constantly
calculate the changing values of the dependent variables of the system in a
short span of time and the time is not enough to incorporate the changes in
all the independent variables and calculate the dependent ones. The
independent variable which occurs in calculation of maximum number of
dependent variables will be updated first using real-hard time computing
algorithms (the less important variable can be updated by other low priority
algorithm).This will enable us to calculate/estimate the change in the
system almost correctly in the given time span.
Then again the ranking of variables can be improved further by using some
other criteria e.g. the average EFFECT on the system by changing a
particular variable. If a variable value is a must to be updated due to
system constraints, it will be given rank 1.
