I understand that asciidoc files are just text files with a specific
internal structure.

The problem with this is that in Vim, non-asciidoc text (especially
where indentation is used to structure the document) often end up
syntax-highlighted in all kinds of weird colors.

In fine, anything that does not conform to asciidoc's grammar is marked
as being in error, which even with my personal toned-down Vim color
scheme often looks ugly and can be rather distracting.

I vaguely contemplated creating an asciidoc-specific suffix for my own
use, but quickly realized that this would be both impractical and likely
to cause problems in the long run, especially with mime-aware
applicatios or if/when such files leave my system.

Has anybody come up with a convenient implementation?

Since this has probably been discussed in the past, could anyone point
me to the relevant thread(s)?

Thanks,

cj
