For other new asciidoc users like myself, I thought it might be worthwhile jotting down a couple of things that I ran into, regarding glossaries.
1. A glossary requires two [glossary] blocks. The example in the manual reads as follows: [glossary] Example Glossary ---------------- Glossaries are optional. Glossaries entries are an example of a style of AsciiDoc labeled lists. [glossary] A glossary term:: The corresponding (indented) definition. A second glossary term:: The corresponding (indented) definition. It works as shown. However, if either the first or second [glossary] isn't present the generated .xml will not validate. 2. "::" not ":-" for glossary list entries. Some web sites that offer tips and an overview of asciidoc still use the deprecated ":-" syntax. The older versions of asciidoc complain: DEPRECATED: portals4-upc-runtime-design.txt: line 123: old glossary list syntax The latest version does not. BTW, some of those same sites still use the old syntax for tables. This was confusing to me at first. I don't know if asciidoc can detect such things, but an error message that tells the user not to use the old format might help keep the user out of trouble. It might also be a good idea to track down the most referenced "how to" pages and try to get them to upgrade their examples. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "asciidoc" group.
