If AsciiDoc doesn't provide a solution, you could always pre-process your documents to strip out your comments and then feed the result to AsciiDoc. For example, I do this in my user manuals, which are pre-processed as eRuby templates. -- I haven't lost my mind -- it's backed up on tape somewhere.
