I have eliminated the other two includes, they were present to see if
the location of the include within the file made any difference.
I have switched back and forth between the macro and attribute form of
include.
Including permutations of the macro form
:include:defs.inc
:include::defs.inc
:include::defs.inc[]
None are working for me. All typically result in the text
':include::defs.inc' as a simplpara or whatever is appropriate
depending on location.
moving the attribute form of the include arround - before the header,
immediately following the header, and anywhere else, has different
behavior.
Only immediately following the header seems to actually result in the
file getting included, but still results in {company} expanding to a
NULL string.
I have reproduced this behavior with the ubuntu 10.10 asciidoc package
and the bleeding edge git code.
One of the most useful values to asciidoc - one noted in the
documentation is defining attributes in includes and I can get nothing
close to working.
asciidoc could be incredibly valuable to me, it is purports to be much
more maintainable and friendly than the M4 based system I currently
use.
