No Joy.
I have cut and pasted the "test" versions of my input and output
files.

Any possibility there is some kind of other artifact on my system ?
I am currently working in a clean directory - the files below, plus a
Makefile so I do not have to keep arguments straight.

I started with the ubuntu 10.10 asciidoc package.
I am currently using asciidoc from the git repository.
But the results have been the same.
