Hi All

We've accumulated a number of bug fixes and patches since 8.6.5 so I think
it's time to get them out there, hopefully in a week or so.

If there are any issues that need attention please post a message.

And while I'm at it, a big shout out to Lex Trotman for his sterling work on
the mailing list -- thanks Lex.

Great! Will the new release include Jean-Michel Inglebert's excellent
improvements to the Slidy backend?

Jean-Michel Inglebert's slidy improvements are impressive.

Rather than put them in the AsciiDoc core distribution my preference would be to package them as a user installable backend, to this end I've committed a patch that will allow custom backends to be distributed as filter plugins:

http://code.google.com/p/asciidoc/source/detail?r=2a09198b6f848f4db354ad0f91123cd2e604b8ef

For example, here's a modified version of Jean-Michel Inglebert's slidy packaged a as filter plugin called slidy2:

$ unzip -l slidy2-1.0.zip
Archive: slidy2-1.0.zip
  Length Date Time Name
--------- ---------- ----- ----
    19338 2011-08-13 15:30 __backend__.conf
        0 2011-08-13 15:21 stylesheets/
      624 2011-08-13 15:17 stylesheets/slidy_color_set_black.css
      489 2011-08-13 15:19 stylesheets/slidy_color_set_yellow.css
      456 2011-08-13 15:18 stylesheets/slidy_color_set_blue.css
      499 2011-08-13 15:19 stylesheets/slidy_color_set_green.css
       29 2011-08-13 15:20 stylesheets/slidy_color_set_none.css
--------- -------
    21435 7 files

It can be installed with:

  asciidoc --filter install slidy2-1.0.zip

And now the slidy2 backend can be used just like a built-in backend:

  asciidoc --backend slidy2 mydocument.txt

This mechanism can also be used to override built-in backends.

The same patch extends the asciidoc --conf-file option so that it can load arbitrary configuration files packaged in filter plugins.

Cheers, Stuart
