You could define an attribute in your document e.g.

:sun: ☉

Then refer to it with {sun}

See the 'Attribute entries promote clarity and eliminate repetition' sidebar in
http://www.methods.co.nz/asciidoc/userguide.html#_setting_configuration_entries

Hello!

So far, I used LyX/LaTeX for writing my notes while studying different
things and considering that I have need to often use glyphs for e.g.
planets, I was using marvosym font and then e.g \Sun to get the glyph of
the Sun planet in my notes.

Now, we fall in love with AsciiDoc and we'll use it for our software
project, so we'd like to translate our LyX/LaTeX notes to AsciiDoc and
wonder how to achieve something similar...iow. we would like to be able
to use something like \Sun and make AsciiDoc display U+2609 Unicode
character entity.

Entering&#x2609 works, but it's tedious and wonder how to create inline
macro to do it?

I did read about inline macros, but when I put:

[macros]
sun:☉

in asciidoc.conf, attempt to produce HTML output gives:

asciidoc: WARNING: article.txt: line 4: unable to delete missing
macro: sun:☉

What do we miss?

Sincerely,
Gour
