asciidoc -v foo.txt reading: /etc/asciidoc/asciidoc.conf FAILED: malformed section entry: template::[paragraph-styles] That's the conf file that I was referring to in my first post. Then look at that conf file with an editor set to show all invisible > characters, maybe there is something damaged. > As I wrote, I did that already. So I actually diffed it now. Downloaded `http://asciidoc.googlecode.com/hg-history/8.6.3/asciidoc.conf`, diff to /etc/asciidoc/asciidoc.conf, shows no differences. You said you uprgaded and un-upgraded, what version are you actually > using? asciidoc --version. According to `asciidoc --version`, it is asciidoc 8.3.1. According to cygwin however, the version is 8.6.3-1. Strange. type asciidoc /cygdrive/c/USER/bin/asciidoc Ah. *facepalm* *sigh* Easy to fix... mv bin/asciidoc bin/asciidoc-8.3.1 type asciidoc /usr/bin/asciidoc asciidoc --version asciidoc 8.6.3 asciidoc foo.txt Voila, it works again. It would be interesting to know how the old asciidoc managed to work at all with the new config, but not interesting enough to warrant the effort.
