Hello everybody out there using asciidoc, For marking variables in shell code snippets, I would like to use `monospace _italic_`, which doesn't work using this markup, but only using `monospace` _`italic`_. The second solution is not as nice, because it requires two more signs than the other one, which I would expect to work. Could anyone of you point me to additional diagnostics I could run in order to pin down the problem? I am using asciidoc 8.6.8 on Fedora Linux.
