Theoretically, you can access up to 2147483648 (2^31) elements in an ArrayList or in any single rank of an array. But memory limitations on the system would likely kick in well before then. Practical use limitations kick in well before then.
If you need to have all 65,000+ items in memory at one time, you are stuck with some sort of collection, array or DataTable. The DataTable offers you the option to easily sort the data and easily select subsets or use views. Though, in most cases, you'd be better off retrieving smaller sets of items from the data store as needed rather than loading that many items into memory no matter what storage mechanism you use.
