By validate, do you mean:

validate the stream against an XML schema (or schemas)
or
validate individual recordset contents against some set of business rules
or
validate sets of recordsets dependent on their contained values and
relationships to other recordsets
or
all of the above?

I am looking to dynamically validate potentially billions of records
in xml hierarchical record sets in a stream via a socket and create
various xml smaller xml documents to feed other systems, which will
ultimately be inserted into various sql server & oracle backends,
need the flexibility of xml but so much data is a challenge.

Dyanmic Array comes to mind, but memory management appears to be a
challenge, when I have to validate that much information in such a
big chunk before it ever gets to a database...
