Back to the
Indian Census says
With gross land area of 70,000 sq.km. the average population density was 360/sq km.
There is big deviation from the average. Guahati and other towns have huge densities.
A study of migrating into city/town reveal following pattern:
· Had a piece of land.Built a house- feels secure-better for childrens future.
· Had easy money.Bought a flat.Have a job with assured salary-pension to repay with.
· Have only a crowded joint family in the village home-see no future there.
· Education of the newcomer was never utilized by city/town into which he/she came.
· As newcomer could not contribute to economic growth, the city/town goes to dogs. Having a shop is not Economic Growth. And ASEB would not provide power to factories in city-and charges prohibitively. So no employment. Lately some Masala/spirit bottling industry has been licensed. And to villages- there is just no power . And villages are NO-INDUSTRY zones dictated by
· Then there is false hope of better City/Town Education and hope of getting jobs on strength of such Education.
How to repopulate the countryside? {Lets talk of Assam 2005 Boundary only}
· By providing meaningful job/ education/housing/security and minimum food/wages/ communication. All these must be created locally.Men,women,children all must work usefully-in corporate style.
· First at the border- armed. To act as border guards too. 2Rows- 1 km apart- villages of 300. If there is 2000 Km total,we place 2x300x2 000= 12 Lakh there.
· Secondly one row of new planned villages on both banks of all rivers/Beel/lake less
· 3rdly in the redefined Brahmaputra/Manah/Kameng/Subonxiri Beds@ 300 /sq.km.In about 6000 sq km we can place about 18 Lakh Farmer communities with set outputs and provided inputs.
· 4thly surrounding each reserve forest and sanctuary: new Forest improving villages- who will do just that-improve pristine forests, grow livestock and honey, run health recuperation centers and old-age homes .1000 such villages will have 3 lakhs engaged that way.
