When a teacher is in distress- he looks towards his students first
One of our friends/ colleagues Sri Abhijit Kumar Hazarika (age 37), a senior Instructor of Civil Engineering Department of this College was detected of Hepatitis C virus while he went to donate blood to his father. Later, he was referred to Apollo Hospital, Kolkata where his case was confirmed and extent of damage of the liver was assessed. After the tests, doctors were in the view of immediate initiation of a systematic process of treatment to arrest the effect of the dreaded virus. The cost of the packaged treatment which includes an Injection per week costing Rs. 11997/- along with medicines costing Rs. 300/- per day may amount to either 4 lakhs (6 months course) or 8 Lakhs (1 year course) of Rupees depending on the report on the type of the virus.
Abhijit Hazarika earns a meager amount as his salary which no way matches with the volume of the cost of treatment. Having a kid of 3 year along with his wife, he was in a dilemma whether to start the treatment or not. We, his colleagues/ friends encouraged him to initiate the treatment process and now he is on his way to his first phase of treatment.
We have initiated a drive to help this distressed person and till date collected an amount of Rs. 95000/-. We earnestly request all of you to extend your helping hand to us which may extend the life expectancy of our friend/colleague by a few years. Your contribution should be sent preferably in Cheques/ Draft payable to Abhijit Kumar Hazarika at his State Bank of India Account, Jorhat Branch (Account Number 01190045028) to any of the signatories of this appeal.
