On inquiring about my application status this week - after the job interview few weeks ago - at EFA-FTI I learnt that the entire team has gone to China for a meeting http://www.fasttrackinitiative.org/education/efafti/Beijingmeeting.asp and will be back next week and decide the outcome.

Even though the position I interviewed for may not not sound like much to US based Harvard grads etc - it is not a consultant position -- but i expect to learn about the entire organization and get comfortable with working in a top level global organization - a challenge for me - who gets awed by  big names and struck dumb - unless I develop some level of understanding about the functioning of the entire organization.

NGOs and Development:
Anyhow education and development is my focus (religion is a hobby - even Vivekanand said - Man cannot practice religion on an empty stomach).

FundRaising:
NGOs are built on skills in organization and financial management and importnatnly fundraising skills (Clumbia Univ has recently launched a Masters program : Masters in Fund Raising for Non Profits - ----money makes the mare go ---- but wrongul use of money can send it into hands of jihadis etc) UN is the biggest NGO. Most of us in India never get to see the fund raising aspect of the great  work done by International NGOs such as CARE, ASHA etc - but for good fundraisers there are jobs aplenty in US with all NGOs.

Should we not try to develop skills about how to create and manage NGOs - secular or faith based?

Any comments?
