Bhubanda,

This is the most popular television program in India
today. The votes are based on the number of individual
SMSes sent - not number of people sending SMSes. The
songs sung are all Hindi movie songs from all times.
At the end of each show, the participants seek votes.
Given this format, the participants seek votes from
where they think the votes would come. To the last
man, the votes were sought along regional lines.

What has happened is in the NE, for whatever reason,
it sparked off a fervour. And so while the number of
people might be less, the number of SMSes per person
sent was proportionately far higher. Perhaps because
given the limited opportunity for individual success
in our region, people identified with this guy more
strongly. Elsewhere, including Bengal, the people are
less bothered.
