Friends and Well Wishers of Assam & North East:

I would like introduce Mr. Harish Sharma, a young energetic youth from Myshore, presently living in Austin, Texas. I met Harish very recently in our effort to find some welfare group for Assam. Harish belongs to AID (Association for India's Development) an International non-profit NGO group.  Harish is planning to run for the Austin Marathon, and he is pledging  to donate all money raised for welfare projects for Assam and the North East.  As such this message is an urgent appeal to all those from the North East to encourage and help him in his cause in whichever way you can. Specially this message is an appeal to donate for his Austin Marathon. But please note, if you really want to pledge your donation, you must do before Feb 19th because the campaign ends this weekend (Feb 19th).

AID is a non-profit organization that supports a wide variety of social development projects in promoting education, health care, women's empowerment , children's welfare, environment, livelihood generation and social justice towards an improved life for the poor and underprivileged in India.  They are doing multifarious project works all over India including the North East. It may be noted that AID Austin Chapter has specially focused on welfare projects for the North East.

When asked why he is doing it for the North East, he said:

"I am talking about the North East (NE) region of India. It is a land nestled in myths and mysteries, lore and legends and in many tender dreams. With more than a hundred and fifty tribes speaking many languages, the folk culture is still vital here.Years of apathy has ensured that this region remains under developed. But there is hope. AID volunteers have done the impossible by working with non governmental organizations (NGO's) in this region. Today we have four projects encompassing such areas as flood relief, livelihood generation and empowerment in this region!..."

"Here is my pledge which will help them better understand how the whole Marathon fund raising works.

You will find all the details of his Marathon fund raising in the following websites.

" If you share my passion and enthusiasm and more importantly believe in my cause I urge you to join me. And the easiest way is to contribute financially as part of the OFI campaign. Your donation will provide the financial backbone for our projects. My goal is to raise $100 for every mile I run i.e $2600 in total. Any amount you contribute will go a long way in realizing this goal. "

Harish also would like to meet more people from North East and want to identify worthy projects which need help.

If you live in Austin, Texas, you may help him more than monetarily. You may like to get involved in AID and get involved in many projects from Assam and the North East.

If you want to contact him in Austin, here are his numbers:
