Umesh:
This ban on critism does not work
for India. Do you know why?
India is no longer a child, she is
an old lady who is abusing her children very badly.
She need to be criticised strongly.
We need more tough girls like Deepa Mehta.

Subject: Re: [Assam] Critical Media
people : Osama to Deepa Mehta --ToughLove
Deepa Mehta seems to be an advocate of "Tough Love" to reform/educate
Hindu male mindset - thru her ever critical films. It can backfire. See this
article about Ban on Criticism
Hi,
I was trying to recall the poem which was printed in
the first admission brochure of Jaipur School more than 25 years ago in
1979. The first line shows us why constant criticism is bad for anyone . Any
teacher (reformer) who is only criticising and never praising will raise
children (or society members) who will learn to condemn others (esp. her or
him).
ANy comments why Deepa Mehta's films - always
scathing about Hindu faith -Earth, Fire, Water- draw ire among Hindus -esp
in India - just like Osama Bin Laden's videos always scathing about the
West/Modernity draw resentment in the West/modern people.
Would a mixture of love and constructive criticism
by such media people - in their media products such as movies improve the
situation. Ofcourse, Osama Bin Laden is a gone case. Deepa Mehta seems
wiser.

Children Live What They Learn
If a child lives with
criticism, he learns to condemn.
If a child lives with
hostility, he learns to fight.
If a child lives with
ridicule, he learns to feel shy.
If a child lives with
shame, he learns to feel guilty.
If a child lives with
tolerance, he learns patience.
If a child lives with
encouragement, he learns confidence.
If a child lives with
praise, he learns to appreciate.
If a child lives with
fairness, he learns justice.
If a child lives with security, he
learns to have faith.
If a child lives with approval, he learns to
like himself.
If a child lives with acceptance and friendship, he
learns to find love in the world. ~Dorothy Law
