Momy, I appreciate your point of view. But you need to realise that everything can not be done by the people only. People of Assam are quite sensitive to the problems. Whenever situation demanded they have always raised their voice. There are instances when people have made the roads by themselves in many areas. But as most of the people in the state are poor, they can not afford to build quality roads by themselves. Moreover, it is not the responsibility of the people to build roads as Government collects huge road tax from the people.
The Assam Gas Cracker Plant which was promised in assam Accord in 1985 is still in the planning stage only. So you can realise how much valid is your suggestion regarding setting up of industry by people themselves. I must say that other than Govt's policies, it is the attitude of the people in the state which is holding Assam back. Tourism could be one of the areas where North East as a whole can develop. But our people have not yet developed tourist friendly attitude.
