I just got the news that I received ASAM PRAKASHAN PARISHAD AWARD for my new
Novel BHABA ANANDA SANGBAD, which I authored in July/2006 on the life of my
then living father Principal Bhabananda Deka, which encompassed the social era
in Assam between 1950 to 1970.
The Education Minister of Assam announced this news on behalf of the Government
of Assam on 30 Dec 2006.

URULI Maghbihu mela in Delhi Posted by: "Manoj Das" [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Tue Jan 2, 2007 12:33 pm (PST) URULI,
a Delhi based Assamese ladies social and cultural organisation,
under the Presidentship of Lily Barooah, organised a Maghbihu mela at
Srimanta Sankaradeva Bhawan on 31st. December 2006.
This is the first time a Bihu mela has been held in Delhi.
There were a number of food stalls selling different pithas, ladoos
and other food items. One of the most popular dish was Pointa Bhat,
Aloo Pitika and Fried Fish.
There was a food competition also.
The first prize went to Dr. Reena Sarma, the second to Mrs. Aruna
Barooah and the third prize was won by Mrs. Binu Saikia. The judges
for the competetion were Dr. Indrani Barooah and Mrs. Laxmi
Goswami. The function ended with a few words of appreciation and
advice from Mrs. Laxmi Goswami.
Those present enjoyed the function a lot - particularly the food.
