Seminar on biodiversity

DHEMAJI, Jan 15: A two-day seminar on “Biodiversity of Dhemaji and its 
Conservation” will be organized by the Society for Traditional Knowledge, 
Dhemaji on January 17 and 18. The seminar will be inaugurated by Khirodhar 
Baruah, retired head of the department of Chemistry, Biswanath College. Noted 
scientists, writers of scientific articles, many other eminent scholars are 
supposed to take part in the seminar. Dhemaji district, being a repository of 
rich biodiversity, needs a systematic and thorough study on its flora and 
fauna. Many valuable medicinal plants have been on the verge of extinction due 
to lack of proper knowledge. The seminar aims to create awareness among the 
people to preserve this resources.
