Sibject: The culture of 'lahe lahe type' kharkhowas

Dear Manoj,

I refuse to accept the slur that Assamese people are 'lahe lahe type' . This
phrase was coined by our enemies after we were subjugated by the British.

I also see stereotyping with words "kharkhowa" "hobo diyok", etc.,
particularly in the assam-net, promoted by dead-end people who lack
self-confidence and enjoy stereotyping.

Maybe you are using the phrase just to prove that they are wrong and must not
be followed.

I urge the descendants of Lachit Borphukan, Atan Buragohain and Swargadev
Chakradhwaj Singha --- every Assamese --- NOT to use these selfeffacing words
& phrases in their writings.

Remember the discussion we had that evening in January 2003 at Mizoram House
where we resolved that Srimanta Sankaradeva Bhawan must be ready in 5 years ?
It is now ready in 4 years ! Congratulations !! We are proud of you !!! Let us
now do the rest of the work.

With love to everybody,
Himendra

  Thanks Partha

Srimanta Sankaradeva Bhawan is a classic example of People to People
Partnership and shows what even a handful of 'lahe lahe type' kharkhowas can
achieve if they they have a resolve and focussed alignment of all the resources
that can be pulled. It's a peoples' project and property; and all should be
sensitive to its proper use in future.

Thanks again for the kind words!

  Manoj
